Terms of Use
Draft — not yet in force1. What ZAM Screen is
ZAM Screen (the "App") turns a tablet, phone or computer into a display that faces your customers at the till. Paired with a ZAM POS till on the same local network, it shows the customer the amount to pay and the payment QR code, plays the payment's sound beacon, and shows the result once the customer's bank has approved the payment.
The App is software published by Techween for businesses that accept ZAM payments under a ZAM Merchant Agreement with a participating bank. It holds no account and takes no payment itself: the till does that.
2. Accepting these Terms
The person setting the App up for the business accepts these Terms, on the business's behalf, by ticking the box and tapping Accept and continue when the App first asks, before it is paired. The App records on the device which version was accepted and when. If we change these Terms in a way that matters, the App asks again before it can be used. These Terms and the Privacy Policy can be read at any time from the pairing screen and the welcome screen of the App, and on techween.net.
3. Pairing
The App shows a six-digit code, renewed every five minutes, and its address on your local network. A member of staff enters the code in ZAM POS (Settings → Connect a display for customers). The App then accepts instructions only from that till, until staff tap Disconnect on the App or disconnect it from the till.
4. Where to put it and how to connect it
- Place the screen so that the paying customer can see it and scan its code, and other customers cannot read it from a distance. After a payment it shows the customer's display name, supplied by their bank, for about ten seconds.
- Connect the App and the till only on a private network your business controls. Their connection on your local network is not encrypted, and the App announces itself on that network so that the till can find it. Never use a public or guest Wi-Fi.
- Do not leave a paired screen where the public can handle it. Disconnect it before moving it, lending it, repairing it or giving it away.
5. Your responsibilities
The business that installs the App is responsible for the device it runs on, for the network it is connected to, and for making sure the amount the till sends is the amount the customer is asked to pay. Use the App only to show your own business's payments.
6. Fees
Techween does not charge for the App. Fees for accepting ZAM payments are set in your business's Merchant Agreement with its bank.
7. Availability, changes and intellectual property
We may update the App to add features, fix defects or meet legal or security requirements. The App, its design and the ZAM name and marks belong to Techween and its licensors; your business receives a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on devices it controls for the purpose in these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or distribute the App.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by Kuwaiti law, Techween is not liable for losses caused by the device or network the App runs on, by a screen placed where others could read it, by a till paired by someone your business let pair it, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the laws of the State of Kuwait.
9. Changes to these Terms
We will publish a new version in the App and on techween.net and, for changes that matter, ask for acceptance in the App before they take effect.
10. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait, whose courts have jurisdiction. App support: support@techween.net · Postal address: [PLACEHOLDER]
